Two Series Recommendations

So My Hero Academia is ending

I have two series I would recommend

First on a light note:

Psych House, it is a new series only having 12 chapters as I'm writing this, accessable on Viz with a Shonen Jump subscription, which I'm sure many people already have as it's one of the ways to read MHA, it even comes out on Sundays as well

The story so far is light hearted following Kotone a high school girl with the power to teleport objects, joining a house for people with powers. The setting has it so only a few people have powers, or as they call them psychs, they aren't being hunted down or going to large lengths to hide them, they just aren't well known

Now especially for my fellow disappointed villain Stans I recommend Empowered by Adam Warren

Now heads up the series starts as a bondage fetish comic with hints of meta-awareness and seriousness, but much like how Bojack Horseman started as a comedy that turned into a serious drama, it is now a much more serious meta comic with hints of the bondage

It does a much better job of presenting its protagonist as an underdog as while they give their protagonist Empowered (or Emp for short) threatening villains, she is presented as the underdog to other heroes. They do a good job balancing her powers so it feels realistic both when she's struggling and when she does win. This is largely because she's set up as a glass cannon with a lot of mystery around her powers.

Emp wants to save everyone, not just the convenient, she treats her villains and fellow heroes with respect even when no one else does and she isn't. One of the other characters has capitán as part of their name, and while everyone else goes to the English pronunciation, Emp calls him his proper title.

Emp is also capable of being made and upset at her situation and being screwed over, and who screw her over. If she forgives someone, it's because they earn it, not some halfassed and performative apology.

With big bads there are three roles that they filled out a lot better. A mysterious and incredibly dangerous threat, well Willy Pete just wiped out a lot of capes, and remains an ongoing threat. A tragic villain that can't be saved, how about a telepath that started making edits to his perceived flaws, removing things like empathy, fear, and compassion. A hypocrite, how about a guy who has been bullying Emp right along side everyone else, and when he claims it was her suffering that inspired him to take revenge, he demands sexual favors to not kill her boyfriend and best friend who never joined in with and was against the bullying

You've been trying to get ahold of Noir's attention in your shared apartment for sometime; well more so a couple days, But he seemed as if he'd become one of the monochromatic shadows that lingered inside your apartment; only staying around during the day, lurking about. Only occasionally reappearing through the night when lights were flicked on.

You sat inside the shared bedroom, it now ached with a empty feeling stretching over the bed and over you. Although you were sure Noir's job as Spiderman was hard. But it had put a toll on you; a painful toll you weren't sure you could handle much longer.. Your heart ached. Your eyes shined with tears creeping up; your (e/c) eyes shimmered as they watered; the hot and warm tears quickly trickled down your face, You did your best to cry quietly but you felt yourself slowly choke out a sob.

The bedroom window made a soft crack sound as it was parted from its windowsill, You paused quickly pushing the sob back down. The tears on your face illuminated by the moonlight's soft touch.

Noir stepped through the window and moved closer to you, He cupped your cheek tilting your head down as he crouched infront of you. He spoke softly "Doll?... Have you been crying?.." You wanted to pull away from his intoxicating touch, the way his gloved hand felt on your face just made you melt, But not tonight, you weren't going to give in to his touch.

You pulled back from his touch. "W-Where have you been Peter..?" You stutter before quickly squeezing your eyes shut; you take a deep breath, the palms of your hands rested on your knees. "Where have you been?..., I've been worried about you!- I feel like you just disappear entirely sometimes and you make me so anxious!- A-And sometimes I worry if you're still okay!" You continued to stutter, you started to raise your voice over yourself, Your voice shook; it trembled as you closed your eyes tightly.

Noir noticed this and took your hands in his, he tilted your head so you would look at him. "I'm sorry darling.., I didn't realize it impacted you so hard.." He apologized But you turned your head away, you couldn't bear listening to his halfassed ' sorry's '

"I can't do this anymore..," You spoke out looking away. You loved Noir dearly but you knew you'd never be able to comfort his hurting cold heart. "I'm sorry Noir..."

"Darling.." He spoke up more confidently, his gloved hand lightly touched your arm. "Please let me make this right..," You hesitated but pulled away from the light touch of his gloved fingertips against your skin. The feeling of his leathery gloves against your bare arm made you shiver.

"Goodbye Peter," You spoke quickly, picking up your belongings and slipping on your jacket leaving before he could say another word.

Hellooooo back to jmj hcs this is a short one like a compact version of hcs (this edition specially based on the outfits and wives behaviour they had at the airport today)

-jm bribes mj with food whenever mj gets jealous or mad because jm is on her phone and doesn't pay attention to her, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and she has to do something else like give every single second of her attention to mj and pamper her like crazy for a few days

-they have these little "gamer and viewer" sessions where they are lazing around in bed or somewhere else and jm is sat down with mj on her lap and either mj plays with her nintendo switch or jm plays gardenscapes and they just lay back and enjoy the gameplay with free cuddles and kisses included

-mj has definitely pestered jm to propose to her at some point, but jm has told her to be patient cause it will come someday, after all it's too early in their careers (and probably they didn't have the gf label until less than 2 years ago), and also jm wants the proposal to be as perfect as possible, so sadly mj will have to wait at least a few more years to get wifed up

-this is sorta a continuation of my last point, they definitely treat each other as wives (this has started happening maybe less than two years ago too) and jm calls mj wifey for sure

DM transcript update

Chapter 2 Shimi-O is now live on the googdoc transcript I've been working on. It's mostly complete, 95% at least, just need to check for a couple more flavortext options. Also I skipped most of Mary's talk options for the whole thing but oops there's sometimes extra character dialogue and not just Go Do This

For the whole thing, I need to go back and add what Mary has to say at different progress points during the investigation, make sure my formatting is consistent, and I've definitely been halfassing the redtext edits.

Figuring out the mechanics by testing everything is neat - Shimi-O gives a lot of hints as you throw incorrect items at him, especially in the last round. It does mean this is such a trial and error process as you try to put all the notes, tips, and items together to figure out the right combos. This is also the first boss you can get to without having all the items you need for a Purify run.

I invented an entire feed, Crucible Feed Alpha7. In the process, I came up with general headcanon ideas, take and leave as you like and add your own please. (In the post, not in the tags please, I always feel like I'm talking to myself)

The feeds are basically like TV sports channels. There's a lot of ways to consume them; audio/visual only, projections, or screen displays, depending on the broadcast and its availability. I'm sure some idiot tried to rig up a whole simulation platform and regretted it.

I haven't decided how the procurement goes, but while Shaxx's feed and maybe a few special others are broadcast live, most of them are between twelve and twenty-four hours old and broadcast by an array of feeds.

Standard-issue features of feeds are the overlay of the broadcast and the pre-selected camera choices, but most of them can change camera angles by choice, turn off and on their commentators, and follow the little text box to profiles of the fighters as stored in whatever databank for this purpose.

The feeds collect and show their selected matches with voiceovers from the commentators of that feed. Commentators will give rundowns on fighter profiles, do play-by-plays, slow things down and explain exactly what happened, etc., and call scores during breaks or down-times. They call for slow-mo replays and recap longer matches.

There's a lot of these, as with sports channels. Most of them follow a theme of some kind, but due to the nature of the crucible, levels of formality and cleanliness can range from weird-streamer to ESPN-official. There's one channel that only shows matches featuring Sweet Business regardless of game mode with no commentary or edits; and then there's a full with-the-shiny-blue-room-and-all-the-scrolling-scoreboards-fancy. Sponsorship is absolutely a thing, there are CERTAINLY foundry-owned feeds that showcase their own weapons.

Alpha7 is about as formal as a local news broadcast. I made up the theme thing after I made up the channel, and also I didn't have one to match my stuff together ^ ^; Halfass decided they do a different game-mode or arena every day on a cycle.

Alpha7 has four commentators that treat the match as live-ish and do play-by-plays and profiles during the matches. Their broadcast divides the matches into segments about 150% of the match-type's maximum game-time (so if it's a ten minute limit, the feed will give it fifteen minutes of airtime). How they arrange the broadcasts changes by type/time. On the in-betweens, after mercy rolls or short elimination matches, they fill in with fighter interviews, weapons breakdowns, and a fashion segment I've named When Looks Can Kill with a set of fashionistas and their episodes of Hot or Not and Style Guides

I'm sure I have more, but I'll have to go look at my notes and stuff.

Sorry but am I the only one that thought that episode…sucked? Like it was straight up bad. Horrible pacing, no wrap up of all the random characters and plot lines they’ve thrown around all season (the tuskegee airmen, Westgates spying, literally all the guys beside like the main 4). (Seriously it makes me so mad that the three redtails got all of 5 seconds of screen time, almost no lines. Literally what was the point of introducing them other than to pretend the show was iNcLuSiVe) Even at the end of BoB and the Pacific you get a much better idea of what happened to all the remaining guys. In this they’re like what happened to DeMarco or Hambone or Brady or (insert character here) we don’t know! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The concentration camp scene felt shoehorned in compared to how it was done in BoB. Unless that actually happened to Rosie (which i haven’t heard anything about) but it was just like.. ok? It all felt so rushed and emotionless to me. Maybe I’ve just fallen out of love with MoTA but it’s been downhill for me since episode 6 or so.

i already made a little (read: long) post-finale write-up here, where i talk about the use of the tuskegee airmen, l'sandra, and overall editing/pacing issues i felt the show had. but i don't agree with the notion that adding the redtails was in any way insincere or trying to halfass being "iNcLuSiVe", i just think they suffer from this show's obvious time constraints. and to summarize what i wrote in my linked post, there's a limit to what white writers/directors/producers can do when creating a story about black people. there are some stories i'd feel uncomfortable with them telling on their own, truth be told. dee rees wasn't the sole nonwhite director, but she Was the only black one. i think she did her job well given the limitations and i appreciate that they let her direct those episodes, rather than leaving it up to a team of white people trying their best to tell a black story.

the worst i can say about the finale is that it didn't feel like That strong of finale, tho i wouldn't go as far to say it "sucked" or call it "straight up bad". i liked it plenty, it's just the weakest of the hbo war finales imo.

as for the concentration camp scene, artistic license was taken with both shows. unlike what's seen in the BoB, easy company wasn't the first to arrive at kaufering, and there's 0 mention of the all-japanese american 552nd who helped them liberate it). similarly, rosie rosenthal did assist in liberating those camps, though it would've been after the events shown this episode. idk if he saw one in that up-close way seen in this episode, but he could've (i should research this when i have time). plus, it would've felt weird Not having him acknowledge them at all. "shoe-horned" is an odd term to use here imo, as both scenes more-or-less center a jewish character (BoB's liebgott and MotA's rosie). the former show has survivors the characters can help, the latter shows no one left to help. the former has all of easy company there, the latter has rosie there all alone. rosie's scene felt deeply personal in that way. at the end of the day, both scenes are communicating different things. that doesn't make one better than the other when they aren't trying to be identical. (disclaimer, i'm not jewish, so i'd be interesting hearing from the perspective of someone who wrt whether or not they felt it was "shoe-horned")

i can understand if you've disliked the show post-episode 6 (and episode 6 was a very strong episode i'm ngl). eps 7 and 8 were weaker in many ways, even to me, so i get it. everyone's entitled to their own opinion (i'd be a hypocrite saying otherwise). just understand that this blog is run by someone who overall enjoys this show despite its flaws! basically, i encourage you to take this energy and make your own posts.

Thats what you wrote and it took me out as well, but what is even funnier... I sometimes go on Instagram on teeekook account to see the scale of delusion theyre on. And you know what they wrote about that scene? Something along the line that TH and JK flirting skills are unmatched, and there are so in love... yup so in love that JK halfassed a thumbs up and proceeded to focus all his attention on JM.

What is really sad to see is that they dont acknowledge their conversation about military service, how clearly Jikook were happy to go together (I mean as much as one can be "happy" about mandatory ms) and the way TH seemed, how should I put it - distant and removed from them. How can anyone think JK and TH have something going on is beyond me, absolutely mind-fucking-blowing.

People are free to believe whatever they want to believe, *BUT* as it currently stands, I do not understand how they think tkk is a thing. I have no idea what Jungkook and Jimin are, but JK does not act the same way with Tae as he does with Jimin. There's a dismissiveness that I sometimes feel when JK is talking to Tae, whether that's just their typical brotherly dynamic or not idk, but it's certainly never reads significant other lol.

Idk if it was just the editing, but I agree that Tae only seemed partially present during the military part of the conversation. But I guess to be fair to him ( I do try to see it from both sides haha), idk how I would feel either having to sit and listen to my two friends excitedly talk about an experience they would be doing together that I would not be apart of. 😅
